Post-Purchase Rules
Configure post-purchase warranty offers, third-party retailer approvals, and purchase window settings.
Post-Purchase Rules
Post-purchase rules control whether and how customers can buy a warranty after their initial product purchase. Use these to capture revenue from customers who skipped warranty at checkout, or to support products sold through third-party retailers.
Settings
The post-purchase rules card appears in the right column of the warranty form with three settings.
Allow Third Party Post Purchase
Default: Off. When enabled, customers who bought the product from an approved retailer can still purchase a warranty from you. Common for brands selling through Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Costco, or authorized resellers.
Approved Retailers
When third-party post purchase is enabled, define which retailers are authorized. Type a retailer name and press Enter in the tag input field. Autocomplete suggests common retailers (Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Costco), but you can add custom names.
Post Purchase Window Days
Default: 30 days. The number of days after the original purchase that a customer can still buy a warranty. Valid range: 1 to 365 days.
Guidelines for setting the window:
- Short (1-14 days) — reduces risk; products still in good condition.
- Medium (15-60 days) — balances convenience and risk. Most common range.
- Long (61-365 days) — maximizes revenue but increases risk of pre-existing damage.
