Editing Warranties
Manage existing warranty plans: view, edit, activate, deactivate, and monitor performance.
Editing Warranties
The warranty list page shows all your plans in a sortable, filterable table. From here you can edit plans, toggle status, monitor performance, and import plans via CSV.
Warranty List Table
The table displays the following columns (all sortable):
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Warranty Number | Unique plan identifier (e.g., W-001) |
| Plan Name | Plan name with coverage terms listed below |
| Status | Active or Inactive |
| Created At | Date created (default sort: newest first) |
| Warranties Count | Total policies sold under this plan |
| Claims Count | Total claims filed against this plan |
| Claims Rate | Percentage of warranties with a claim filed |
| Auto Approve | Toggle auto-approval on/off directly from the list |
To filter, type a plan name in the search field at the top. To sort, click any column header.
W-001 · Extended Warranty
W-002 · Shipping
W-003 · OEM Warranty
Editing a Plan
To edit a plan, click Edit on the warranty row. The edit form is the same as the creation form with all current values pre-filled.
All settings can be modified after creation: plan name, SKU prefix, plan type, coverage options, terms, eligibility, post-purchase rules, registration, claims rules, and resolution rules.
After making changes, click Save Changes in the title bar or at the bottom of the form.
Activating and Deactivating Plans
- Click Edit on the warranty row.
- In the right column, change the Status dropdown to Active or Inactive.
- Click Save Changes.
Deactivating a plan hides it from new customers. Existing policies remain valid, claims can still be filed, and you can reactivate at any time.
Auto-Approve Toggle
To toggle auto-approval without opening the edit form, use the auto-approve switch directly in the warranty list table. This updates the auto-approve setting while preserving all other claims rule settings.
CSV Import
To bulk-create warranty plans, click Import CSV on the warranty list page. For format details and instructions, see Advanced Options.
Plan Performance Metrics
Use the list table columns to monitor plan health:
| Claims Rate | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| 0-5% | Healthy — normal claim activity |
| 5-15% | Moderate — review coverage terms and evidence requirements |
| 15-30% | High — consider tightening claims rules or adjusting coverage |
| 30%+ | Critical — investigate for product quality issues or fraud |
Prerequisites
Before creating or editing warranties, you need:
- Active Shopify integration — your store must be connected and installed.
- Active subscription — select a plan from Settings → Billing.
If either is missing, the warranty list page prompts you to connect your store or choose a plan.
