Customize the subject lines, HTML content, and branding of every transactional email sent by Umbrella.
Email Templates
Customize the content and design of every transactional email Umbrella sends on your behalf. Edit subject lines, write custom HTML, insert dynamic variables, and preview results before saving.
Navigate to Dashboard > Settings > Notifications, then click the Email Templates tab.
Template Categories
Policy Templates

| Policy Purchased | Confirms policy details and coverage |
| Policy Cancelled | Confirms the cancellation |
Claims Templates
| Template | Description |

| Claim Submitted | Confirms receipt of a new claim |
| Claim Pending Info | Requests additional information |
| Claim Approved (Credit) | Notifies approval with store credit |
| Claim Approved (Discount) | Notifies approval with discount code |
| Claim Denied | Notifies denial with reason |
| Claim Repair: Awaiting Return | Instructs customer to return product |
| Claim Repair: Received | Confirms returned product was received |
| Claim Repair: In Progress | Repair work has begun |
| Claim Repair: Complete | Repair is finished |
Post-Purchase Templates

Template Status
- Default — uses the system default (not yet customized)
- Customized — edited and saved with your custom content
Editing a Template
Click Customize (default templates) or Edit (customized templates) to open the editor.
Subject Line
The subject line supports Handlebars variables (e.g., {{merchantName}}). Write a clear subject that helps customers identify the email.
HTML Content Editor
Write your email body in HTML. The content is wrapped in Umbrella’s email layout, which provides consistent header/footer styling. The editor supports syntax highlighting, line numbers, and word wrap.
Edit / Preview Toggle
- Edit mode — raw HTML code
- Preview mode — rendered HTML with sample data
Available Variables
Click any variable in the right sidebar to insert it into your template.

Saving and Resetting Templates
- Click Save Template to apply your customization to all future emails of that type.
- Click Reset to restore the system default template.
