Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy describes how Umbrella Technologies, Inc. (“Umbrella,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, shares, and safeguards personal information obtained when you visit our website at www.myumbrella.ai, interact with our merchant dashboard, install or use our embedded warranty widgets, access our APIs, purchase or register a warranty plan, file or manage a claim, or otherwise engage with our related services (collectively, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy also explains your rights and choices with respect to your personal information and the measures we take to protect it.
This Privacy Policy applies when we act as a data controller, meaning we determine the purposes and means of processing your personal information. In many cases, Umbrella acts as a data processor or service provider to our merchant clients. When acting as a processor, we process personal information on behalf of merchants and according to their instructions. In those situations, this Privacy Policy does not apply, and you should review the privacy statements of the relevant merchant to understand how they handle your information.
You may manage your preferences at any time. If you wish to stop receiving marketing communications, you may opt out by using the unsubscribe link in the relevant email. If you wish to access, correct, or delete your information, or exercise other rights available to you, please contact us at privacy@myumbrella.ai. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have additional rights which are described in the sections titled U.S. State Privacy Rights, California Consumer Privacy Statement, Colorado Consumer Privacy Statement, and Canadian Consumer Privacy Statement.
We may obtain personal information that you choose to provide directly to us, that is provided to us by merchants and partners, or that we collect automatically when you interact with our Services.
When you interact with our Services, you may provide us with personal information such as your name, email address, mailing address, and phone number. You may also provide account information, such as usernames and passwords, and other details you choose to store in your account profile. If you register or purchase an Umbrella warranty plan, you may provide details about the product covered, including the product type, the serial number, the date and amount of purchase, and the merchant or manufacturer. If you file a claim, we collect claim information, such as your claim ID, the description of the issue, the cause of the damage or defect, supporting documents, and details relating to the status and resolution of the claim. In connection with payments, you may provide billing details, though payment card data is processed by third-party payment processors and not stored by us. You may also provide us with information when you communicate with our support team, participate in surveys, or otherwise correspond with us.
Merchants and partners who use Umbrella to provide warranty coverage to their customers may provide us with your contact details, product purchase details, order identifiers, and warranty registration information in order to allow us to administer warranty plans and process claims. Merchants may also provide additional information about claims, including documentation verifying your eligibility or purchase history.
When you use our Services, we collect certain information automatically. This may include device information, such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and device settings. We also collect usage data, such as the pages you visit, the date and time of access, the duration of your visit, referring and exit URLs, and information about how you interact with our widgets, APIs, or merchant portals.
We use technologies such as cookies, log files, pixels, and web beacons to collect this data. Cookies are small data files placed on your device that help us remember your preferences and recognize your device. Log files record activity occurring on our systems, including IP addresses and browser details. Pixels and web beacons allow us to measure engagement with our website, emails, and advertising campaigns. These technologies help us analyze how our Services are used, remember your preferences, improve performance, and detect fraudulent activity.
We use the personal information we collect to provide, operate, and improve our Services. This includes registering warranties, processing claims, authenticating users, processing payments and refunds, communicating with you regarding warranty coverage or claims, and providing customer support. We use personal information to operate, evaluate, and improve the Services by analyzing usage patterns, developing new features, conducting performance monitoring, and improving fraud prevention measures. We use information to send you transactional communications and, where permitted by law, promotional offers or marketing communications. We may use personal information for auditing, compliance, and other internal functions, as well as to enforce our terms of service and protect our rights.
We may share personal information with our affiliates and subsidiaries for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. We may share information with merchants and partners from which you purchased a product to offer, provide, and administer warranty plans, and with insurance companies that may underwrite or support warranty coverage.
We may share personal information with service providers, contractors, and agents who perform services on our behalf, such as web hosting, payment processing, data storage, analytics, customer support, marketing, and fraud prevention. We may also share information with professional advisors, such as auditors, accountants, and legal counsel.
In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, financing, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or other business transaction, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We may also share information where required by law or legal process, in response to lawful requests by public authorities, to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, or where necessary to prevent harm, fraud, or financial loss.
We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration.
We use cookies and other tracking technologies to maintain sessions, remember preferences, measure usage, and improve performance. We also use these technologies to deliver advertising and measure the effectiveness of campaigns.
We use analytics services, including Google Analytics, which collect information about your use of our Services and report trends. Our Services do not respond to “Do Not Track” signals sent by browsers.
We, our affiliates, and our service providers may transfer, store, and process personal information in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States and Canada. These jurisdictions may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country. We take steps to ensure that transferred personal information is protected as described in this Privacy Policy.
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, to comply with our legal obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements. For example, claims data is retained for a minimum of seven years, account information is retained while an account is active and for a period after closure, and payment records are retained for the period required by tax and accounting laws. Communications with customer service are retained as needed to provide ongoing support and comply with legal requirements. When personal information is no longer needed, we will securely delete or anonymize it.
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against accidental, unlawful, or unauthorized destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure, or use. These measures include encryption, access controls, monitoring systems, and employee training. However, no method of transmission or storage is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The Services are intended for users who are of the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of thirteen or such other age as may be required under applicable law. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child, we will delete it.
Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to request confirmation of whether we process your personal information, the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information we maintain about you, the right to request correction or deletion of your personal information, and the right to opt out of certain processing activities, including targeted advertising. You may also have the right to obtain a list of the categories of third parties to which we have disclosed personal information.
We will take steps to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. If you do not have an account with us, we may request that you verify your email address or provide other identifying information. If you designate an authorized agent, we may require proof of authorization.
This California Consumer Privacy Statement supplements the Umbrella Privacy Policy and applies solely to California consumers. This Statement uses certain terms that have the meanings given to them in the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020, and its implementing regulations.
We may collect, and may have collected during the twelve-month period prior to the effective date of this Statement, personal information in the following categories: identifiers such as a name, email address, IP address, or account identifier; additional data such as signature or insurance policy number; commercial information such as products or services purchased, obtained, or considered; biometric information if required for fraud prevention; internet and other electronic network activity information including browsing history and interaction with our Services; sensory information such as customer support recordings; and inferences drawn from the information identified above.
We may use the personal information we collect for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy and for the following business purposes: performing services including maintaining or servicing accounts, providing customer service, processing or fulfilling orders, verifying customer information, processing payments, and providing analytics; providing advertising and marketing services; auditing related to advertising; ensuring security and integrity; debugging and repair; conducting internal research and development; and maintaining the quality and safety of our Services.
We do not collect or process sensitive personal information with the purpose of inferring characteristics about California consumers. We retain personal information for the period necessary to achieve the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, taking into account applicable laws and requirements.
California consumers have the right to request access to the personal information we maintain about them, the right to request deletion of personal information, the right to request correction of inaccurate personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Umbrella does not sell personal information for monetary consideration. Consumers also have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising their rights.

To verify your identity, we may require you to log into your account, verify your email address, or provide certain identifying information. If you request specific pieces of personal information, we may require a signed declaration under penalty of perjury confirming your identity.
This Colorado Consumer Privacy Statement supplements the Umbrella Privacy Policy and applies solely to Colorado consumers, in compliance with the Colorado Privacy Act.
We may collect personal data including contact information such as name, email, mailing address, and phone number; information about products covered by your Umbrella plan; claims information such as claim ID, product issue description, and claim resolution details; and device and usage information such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and time and duration of visits.
We may use this information to provide our Services and manage our relationship with you, establish and manage your account, process and fulfill claims, personalize your experience, increase the safety and security of our Services, communicate with you, operate and improve our Services, protect against fraud and criminal activity, and comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
We may share this information with consultants and professional services organizations, our merchants and partners who offer our warranty plans, insurance companies that support the plans, data analytics providers, internet service providers, operating systems and platforms, and government entities as required by law.
Colorado consumers have the right to confirm whether we process their personal data, the right to access and obtain a copy of personal data, the right to correct inaccuracies, the right to delete personal data, the right to opt out of targeted advertising and profiling, and the right to appeal our decision with respect to a request.
This Canadian Consumer Privacy Statement supplements the Umbrella Privacy Policy and applies solely to residents of Canada.
Under Canadian privacy laws, personal information means any information about an identifiable individual. This includes the information described in this Privacy Policy, such as identifiers, commercial details, claims data, and usage information.
We collect personal information that you provide directly, information provided by your devices when you use our Services, and information from merchants, partners, or publicly available sources where permitted by law.
By providing personal information, you consent to our collection, use, disclosure, and retention of that information as described in this Privacy Policy. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to reasonable prior notice and applicable legal and contractual restrictions. Depending on the nature of the personal information, if you withdraw consent, we may not be able to provide the Services to you.
Canadian residents have the right to access, update, and correct inaccuracies in their personal information in our custody or control, subject to limited exceptions under applicable law. They also have the right to withdraw consent, to receive information about our practices, and to file complaints with regulatory authorities.
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as otherwise permitted or required by law. We may anonymize personal information so that it is no longer associated with you, and may use such data for any legitimate business purpose without further notice.
Umbrella maintains governance policies and practices to protect personal information, including safeguards against unauthorized access, policies for responding to requests, and processes for retention and deletion. We have designated a Director of Information Security responsible for overseeing compliance with applicable laws.
We may transfer personal information as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets.
Certain features of our Services may allow you to make personal information visible to others. Information that you disclose publicly may be accessed and used by others.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. We will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page when changes are made.
