Shopify Checkout Extensions

Umbrella provides three checkout UI extensions that add warranty upsells and shipping protection directly in the Shopify checkout. All three are configured through the Shopify checkout editor.

Checkout Line Items

Renders warranty options next to each eligible product in the checkout cart. When a customer expands the warranty options, they can add protection for that specific line item.

• Where it appears: After each cart line item in checkout
• Display modes: Compact (button only) or expanded (image, title, price, description)
• Key settings: Button text, pre-selected option index, price display format, border/padding styles
• Configure in: Shopify checkout editor → select the “Checkout Line Items” extension

Shipping Protection Checkbox

Adds a checkbox near the checkout action buttons so customers can opt into shipping protection for their order.

• Where it appears: Before the checkout action buttons
• Display: A checkbox with a configurable label (supports {{title}} and {{price}} template variables)
• Key settings: Show/hide price, description text, info modal, checkbox label size
• Configure in: Shopify checkout editor → select the “Shipping Protection Checkbox” extension

Shipping Protection Block

An alternative to the checkbox that renders as a full card element with a thumbnail, title, description, and add/remove button.

• Where it appears: Anywhere in the checkout (drag to position in the editor)
• Display: Card layout with optional thumbnail, dropdown details, and info modal
• Key settings: Custom title/description text, thumbnail URL, show/hide elements, modal content
• Configure in: Shopify checkout editor → select the “Shipping Protection Block” extension

Checkbox vs. Block

You can use either or both simultaneously.
