Claim Evidence
Managing photo and video evidence submitted with warranty claims, including upload requirements and fraud analysis.
Claim Evidence
Umbrella supports photo and video uploads from customers and runs AI-powered fraud analysis on photo evidence automatically.
Evidence Requirements
Whether evidence is required depends on your warranty plan configuration. Each plan has independent toggles for photo and video evidence. To configure these, see Claims Rules.
- If photo evidence is required, the customer must upload at least one photo before proceeding.
- If video evidence is required, the same rule applies for video.
- If neither is required, the evidence upload stage is skipped entirely.
Supported File Formats
| Type | Formats | Max Files |
|---|---|---|
| Photos | JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP | 5 per claim |
| Videos | MP4, MOV, WebM | 2 per claim |
Upload Experience
Customers use a drag-and-drop uploader during the claim form. Each file shows its name, size, and upload progress. Files can be removed individually before submission.
Reviewing Evidence
To review evidence, open a claim at Dashboard > Claims > [Claim ID]. Submitted evidence appears as a thumbnail grid.
- Photo thumbnails show the image with a colored fraud analysis dot in the corner (see Fraud Detection).
- Video thumbnails display a play icon.
- Hover to see the original filename and a shield icon to view fraud analysis details.
- Click any thumbnail to open a full-size preview where you can view at full resolution, play video, see the fraud analysis summary, or open the file in a new tab.
Fraud Indicators
Each photo thumbnail shows a colored dot indicating the AI fraud analysis result:
| Color | Score | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Green | 0-3 | Appears authentic |
| Amber | 4-6 | Potentially suspicious |
| Red | 7-10 | Likely fraudulent |
| Blue | N/A | Analysis in progress |
| Gray | N/A | Analysis error |
Click the shield icon on any photo to open the full Fraud Analysis Details modal.
Best Practices
- Require photo evidence on warranty plans for physical products to reduce fraud and speed up review.
- Enable video evidence for high-value items where photos alone may not capture the damage.
- Review fraud indicators before approving — amber or red dots warrant closer inspection but do not automatically mean fraud.
- Use full-size preview to inspect photos at full resolution.
- Re-run analysis if the initial fraud detection encountered an error.
- Check multiple photos for consistency across the claim.
